Frequently Asked Questions

Before your massage:

What should I wear?

Whatever feels good! Any clothes that remain on, may come in contact with any lubricant used. For Kinetic Thai Massage, you stay clothed and no lubricant is used.

Should I shower?

It's a good practice to shower before your appointment to ensure hygiene for both you and the therapist.

Do I need to complete the intake form?

Yes. You can fill it out online before your appointment, or plan to arrive 5–10 minutes early to complete it. Please share any injuries, chronic pain, medications, or health conditions so I can provide the safest and most effective care. All information is confidential and HIPAA compliant.

During your massage:

You’ll have a short consultation to discuss your needs, health history, and goals before beginning your massage.

Will I be covered?

Yes—only the area being worked on is uncovered, and private areas stay covered.

Your comfort and privacy are always respected.

What if the pressure isn’t right?

Please let me know at any point. Your comfort is the most important part of the session, and I can always adjust.

What if I fall asleep?

That’s perfectly normal and actually a sign that you’re deeply relaxed. I’ll gently wake you when the session is over.

Will the massage be painful?

Some techniques may cause mild discomfort, especially during deep tissue or myofascial release, but the goal is always relief—not pain. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort.

What products do you use in the massages?

Sacred Earth Botanicals Unscented Vegan Massage Cream, Sacred Earth Unscented Organic Massage Oil Blend, Soothing Touch Jojoba Unscented Massage Lotion.

After Your Massage:

How might I feel afterward?

Most people feel calm, loose, and lighter. Sometimes you may feel a bit groggy or sore, similar to after a workout—that usually fades within a day. Mild soreness is normal, especially after deeper work. If you feel pain that doesn’t seem right, reach out and let me know.

General Information:

No. Massage therapists are not doctors and cannot diagnose. If I notice something concerning, I’ll recommend following up with a healthcare provider.

Yes. Prenatal massage can relieve discomfort and stress during pregnancy. Exceptions include high-risk pregnancies, first trimester, or certain contraindications. Deep pressure is avoided for safety.

What are the benefits of massage?

Beyond simple relaxation, massage offers many health benefits, including:

  • Reduced stress: Lowers cortisol (the stress hormone) and increases feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine.

  • Pain relief: Can help manage chronic conditions such as back pain, headaches, and arthritis.

  • Improved circulation: Enhances blood flow, which delivers oxygen and nutrients to muscles and helps remove waste products.

  • Better sleep: Promotes rest by reducing stress and relaxing the body and mind.

  • Enhanced immune function: Increases the activity of the body's natural "killer T cells," which fight off viruses.

  • Increased flexibility: Loosens tight muscles and improves the elasticity of tissues.

Who should avoid getting a massage?

You should speak with your doctor before getting a massage if you have any serious medical conditions. Certain people should avoid or modify deep tissue massage, including:

  • Pregnant women, especially in their first trimester

  • People with a history of blood clots

  • Individuals undergoing intensive cancer treatment

  • Those with osteoporosis or other bone disorders
